Configuring Incident Briefs in Blameless

Prerequisites:

Before configuring Incident Briefs in Blameless, ensure the following settings are enabled:

1. Generative AI: Enabled in the Integrations -> Generative AI settings page.
2. GPT-4: Selected in the Generative AI settings page.
3. Incident Assistant: Enabled in Incident Workflows -> Incident Assistant settings page.

Steps to Configure Incident Briefs:

1. Navigate to Incident Workflows -> Incident Assistant in Settings

2. Click "Add Brief":

   • Navigate to the Incident Briefs section and click the "Add Brief" button.
   • You will see the following modal popup

3. Enter a Title:

   • Provide a title for the brief. This title will be displayed in Slack or Microsoft Teams when the brief is posted to a channel.

4. Enter a Description:

   • Add a description for internal purposes. This description will not be shown in Slack or Microsoft Teams.

5. Select Channels:

   • For Slack: Choose the channels where the brief should be posted after generation.
   • For Microsoft Teams: Select a team and the corresponding channels.

6. Filter Incident Types and Severities:

   • Optionally, filter the Incident Types and Severities for which you want to generate a brief. If no filters are applied, the brief will apply to all Types and Severities.

7. Add Questions:

   • Name: Provide a brief name for the question. This name will always be shown in the UI.
   • Question: Specify the question you are trying to answer.

8. Show In Preview:

   • If you select the "Show In Preview" checkbox, the question will be displayed in the message posted in the channel. If not selected, the question and its answer will be visible in the modal or dialog when viewing the full details of the brief.

9. Display Question:

   • If you select the "Display Question" checkbox, the question will be shown next to the name instead of just showing the name.

10. Enable the Incident Brief
    

    • Make sure you enable the incident brief to ensure it is generated and updated routinely while the incident is unresolved.

By following these steps, you can effectively configure Incident Briefs in Blameless, ensuring that critical information is shared efficiently across your team’s communication channels.
