- A notification appears stating that you are about to remove the category from the active list.
- Select Archive.
- Note: Archiving a category does not change existing relationships. Incidents already tagged from an archived category should continue to display that relationship. New or existing incidents with no tags in those categories will not be presented with them.
Note You can view your list of Active and Archived Categories using the Status "Filter By" drop down at the top of the window. |
Restore a Category from an Archive
- Open the archive list using the Filter by: drop down. If you have archived categories, they will be displayed.
- Click on the three dots at the end of the desired Category row and select Restore.
- The category becomes active again.
Tag Administration
If users enter lowercase names for categories, they will automatically be converted to upper case and displayed in upper case everywhere. Tag names change to all lowercase everywhere. Neither Categories or Tag names are case sensitive.
Note Changes done in a tag category are automatically saved (i.e., renaming the tag category, adding / deleting tags, changing the field type, adding / remove incident types from the list, the checkbox, or the description field) unless an error occurs. |
To Add a New Tag to an Existing Category
- Open the desired category.
- Select the Field type option from the drop down.
- Multiple Tags: The user can have multiple tags in a category for an incident.
- Single Tag: The user can only have one active tag at a time in a category.
- Select the checkbox if it is a required tag for resolving an Incident.
- Enter the Tag name.
- This feature in tag management also allows adding free form tags to incidents, so you can add multiple tabs by comma separation like "test,test2,test3" that will add three tags.
- Identify the Incident type(s) by clicking in the Incident Types dropdown.
- Leaving the ":"Incident Type" blank makes it available to all Incident Types.
- By selecting the tag category as required, Blameless expects a Tag value and an Incident type be supplied. An error gets thrown if neither or none are supplied.
- Field type is synonymous to Tag category type.
- Enter the Tag name.
- Identify the Incident type(s) by clicking in the Incident Types dropdown.
Using Field Types With freeform, if single tag is selected and they try to enter multiple tags like "test, test2, test3" only one tag will be created that will show as "test test2 test3". For the case where multiple tags exist in a category and a user switches that category to field type of Single Tag, when they go to edit the tags in that category for an incident, the user is supplied with a warning dialog stating "Category tags field type was changed from multiple tags to single tag selection. Selecting a new tag will remove all other tags." |
Delete a Tag
- Click x next to a tag in the list and the tag is removed from the field.
- Deleting a tag only removes it from a category -- the tag still exists in Blameless.
Option: Required Before Resolving an Incident
If you select Required before resolving an incident as part of the unique category requirements, then you cannot resolve the incident that is applied to before selecting one (or multiple) of the tags listed here.
Restrict Tag Categories to Specific Incident Types
Restricting Categories tag(s), depending on the Incident Type selection, forces the user to meet the criteria, further customizing the results. Until the criteria are met, attempting to resolve this incident results in Blameless displaying an error message pointing out the required tag category or categories that have not been met.
